Throw Momma From a Plane

Throwing Momma from a plane!
74 Years old, 12,000 feet, all for charity.

The 3 Goodwin’s for the 3 M’s (Mind, Macmillian and MS Society- details below)

On the 22nd of June my mom, sister and I will be taking part in a parachute jump for three charities that mean a lot to us. The jump is at 12,000 feet with a free-fall speed of up to 120 miles an hour (personally I’m looking forward to this rather than doing 20 miles an hour each day on the M5/M6)! I need to add we are paying for the cost of organising and completing the jump ourselves so 100% of the donated money will go towards our selected charities.

My sister as our Weightwatchers leader has been coaching us for the past twelve months to ensure our freefall lasts that little bit longer, now a couple of stone lighter we think it’s the right time to take on this task. Just to be clear our mom who will be 75 later this year has volunteered for the jump, she won’t be expecting a cheap weekend break on a small plane on the day.

We know times are tough at the moment but should any of my family, friends or colleagues past or present wish to donate, we would really appreciate it if you could spare any of your hard-earned cash for our very worthwhile charities and all support is very much appreciated.

We appreciate your time to read this.
PS: In advance, apologies if you are within 100 miles of Nottingham on the day and can hear the screams!

The charities we have chosen:

Macmillian Cancer Support:

Douglas Macmillan founded the charity in 1911, and it has since grown to be the UK’s leading source of cancer support. Macmillian support those affected by cancer, their family and friends during and after diagnosis.

MS Society:

The MS Society is a community of people living with MS. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition which can affect the brain and/or spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance. It's a lifelong condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can occasionally be mild.

Mind:

It’s estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem and Mind are a mental health charity whose aim is ensuring that no one has to face a mental health problem alone. In 2016, 5,668 suicides were recorded in Great Britain alone and 75% of these were male. Additionally, suicide is cited as the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 years in England and Wales.
