Please help Cancer sucks!!!
Please find it in your heart if all possible to donate every dollar counts.
Hi, I'm Shauns wife Carrie. We have always been the type of people to help others such as the homeless (feed them holiday meals, bring them clothes, blankets ect. and help families around the holidays and much more.
Unfortunately we need some help.
April 2014 my husband woke up to no voice. Doctors thought it could be a cold or allergies. After many different prescriptions nothing was helping. In August 2014 we went sent to an ENT. He looked up Shauns nose and down the throat with a scope and found a mass. They told us it was 95% certain cancer. September 2014 he had a biopsy, doctors couldn't remove it all due to location (above his Larynx between vocal cords & voice box) results came back negative.
Here we are 2016 and went in again to a different ENT Feb.26th,2016.Shaun went for a CT SCAN in May and We found out that his mass in his throat has grown to a T4 which is cancer, it has now spread into his tissue and above his adams apple. It has also spread into his right lung.
At the time of this post May 20th 2016..he has to go for a biopsy Monday May 23rd then a PET SCAN the 26th..unfortunately this is terminal. All we can hope for now is maybe something they can give/do to slow it down for him to spend more time with us.
This is a very hard difficult emotional time for us..Shaun and I would love to take our family to Florida for a week. We have never been there .
We ask for support during this time NO SYMPATHY
As many of you know Shaun is a Freelance photo journalist/Photographer. All medicial bills will be taken care of but we are concerned about the normal everyday bills. And the needs of our children. This has been an extremely stressful
We ask that any donation that you can give big or small is forever greatly apperciated.
Thank you so very much

We are now slowly introducing food and liquids to Shaun again. It is still a challenge. He eats little things here and there. Liquids are the main concern. He still chokes a little bit. He is now up to 166lbs. Getting 4 cans of food a day through his feeding tube. Voice is now coming back. He still has a lot of pain, dry mouth (saliva slowly coming back)
He is now allowed to return to work. However our bills are still a little behind. Even though he is slowly healing we still need help financially.
Electric bill is past due, we owe $83.50 due immediately!!! Every dollar counts!! Please continue to pray for our family. Thanks again from the DeWolf Family
He is taking 4-5 Norcos a day and on Fentynal patches.
Shaun(2-27-17) finished his last radiation treatment today!! We are beyond happy that that part is over.
Long road ahead of recovery. 2 weeks from now we will start introducing food and drinks again slowly. Our and the doctors goal is to have the feeding tube removed by end of April. He is still unable to work for a while. Bills are slowly getting caught up but we are unable to pay them all.
We are having a Kick it Cancer benefit April 10th at the Holiday Inn Express South (Clay Ave) to help us out. There will be comedy and music and performance by Cryptic Wisdom!! Tickets are just $20 each includes your dinner. We will be having auctions as well. If you are interested in purchasing tickets please contact us. We are still in need of donations even if it's just a dollar it's very appreciated. Please continue to share and keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you again

Shaun has only 5 radiation treatments left!! His feeding tube is going good, he is up to 4 cans a day. His weight is 166lbs. Though he is almost finished with treatments it is still difficult. He is still unable to talk, eat or drink by mouth. They say it could be a few weeks before he can gradually do these things again. His neck inside and outside look and feel like they are sunburned. He is still in a lot of pain. Medications are Norco (10 mg every 4-5 hours)
Fentynal patch (25mg)
Zofran. Last week he was denied disability. This was a huge blow to us. Our bills are falling behind. We still need help. His recovery will take about another month or longer.
Whatever donation you can do even if it's just a dollar it's very appreciated. Please continue to share with your family and friends. Continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you again

Shaun was scheduled for his feeding tube (the 17th) overnight observation. Tuesday morning we went in and they explained that his colon and intestines sit right below his ribs,in order to safely place a feeding tube, they would go down his nose with a lighted scope and fill the area with air to try and push his colon down to get tube into his stomach. He left for surgery, 15 minutes later he was back. They were unsuccessful. He was then admitted to hospital, GI surgeons were contacted and consultation was under way. Tuesday evening a team of 6 surgeons came into the room and met with us. They said surgery was scheduled for Wednesday the 18th around 2 p.m
They also told us that either way Shaun would have his tube. The safest way to place it was go through his mouth with a lighted scope, at the same time another surgeon would cut about a 3 in incision on the outside of his stomach looking in to match the same area, once again fill him with air. If that wasn't successful they would make about a 6 inch incision outside of the stomach and place it that way.
Wednesday at 2p.m we went down to the pre-op room, met with 6 surgeons explained the process again. Then came the anesthesiologist. He told both Shaun and I that if they were to place the breathing tube in while he was asleep he wouldn't make it through surgery because of the mass. We are both scared to death at this point. He said that in order to keep Shaun alive he would have to place the breathing tube in while he was awake. He told us out of his 25 yrs of doing this he was scared to do shauns surgery. Well shaun had the tube placed while awake (he doesn't remember) a team of 18 doctors were in the operating room (including ICU, ENT)
Surgery was a success. Later that evening they told us that they had a few problems but they had a trach and crash cart on stand by for fear that Shaun would of aspirated taking the breathing tube out. We were finally released from the hospital Monday evening. Shauns white blood count and hemoglobin is now dropping (was 4 now down to 1) he will probably need a blood transfusion tomorrow. We are also meeting with a social worker from the cancer center tomorrow to get him on SSI or SSI disability. He is still in a little pain but is tolerating his feedings well. This is becoming harder and more real. I am now considered his primary caregiver. We just take it one day at a time. Every dollar counts. Please continue to share and keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you again
