THREE CHI'S NEED YOUR HELP!
On this, the National Day of Rescue, please meet these three little loves who were owner surrenders on this day ...
Russell – Male Chihuahua, approximately 9 years old, lived in a cage in a basement for most of his life, with little human interaction, and intermittent affection. We believe he has mange, he is losing his hair in clumps and his skin appears to be “dead”, the top half of his tail has no fur. His ears and belly are crusted, his paws have open sores. His nails were permitted to grow far too long, which hindered his ability to walk, and undoubtedly caused him discomfort. He was wearing a flea collar that was gifted to him by someone trying to help, and that collar was still on him over a year later, stuck to his tender, broken skin. Russell is unaltered (not neutered), we aren’t certain as to his vaccination status. We were told that he was attacked by a larger dog last year and that attack “almost ripped his arm off”. It was a surgery that the owner could not afford to have fixed, but that they did have something done but it was a botched job ( we don’t know what that “something” was). Despite his past, Russell appears to be a happy fellow, but when he gets excited, his leg gives out on him, and he walks with a very noticeable limp. Russell will need some serious attention over the next few months – x-rays, a dental, blood work, vaccinations, neuter…. We wish to be able to provide this for him so that he can enjoy his senior years free from pain and discomfort.
Beyonce and Chubby – Two adorable, 3 month old chihuahuas. Both are unaltered, but appear to be in good health. Sweet Bey has Cherry eye (a prolapse of the third eyelid) and will require surgical repair of the third eyelid gland. This is a condition that will need to be treated as soon as possible so as to minimize permanent damage to the eye. Left unattended, it can cause “dry eye” which will seriously impair her vision. Given that she is so young, she has an excellent chance at a successful surgery, and we would like to ensure she has this chance before it's too late.
