Three Blind Angels

$825 of $715 goal

Raised by 23 people in 10 months
On April 20, 2015, my husband and I made one of the best decisions of our lives when we welcomed a family of three blind heelers into our hearts and home.  After purchasing our home we wanted to expand our family with rescue dogs, and after looking on the SPCA website we just knew there was something special about Bella, Bear, and Tres.  The infamous mom, son, and daughter trio had been at the shelter for a little over a year and were having difficulty finding a forever home due to their age and disability.  This was fortunate for us, because after meeting with these angels we just had to have them, and the rest is history!

As of yesterday, Bella, the Matriarch of our lovable fur family, was taken to the vet with a very infected right eye that seemed to appear almost overnight.  After a series of tests it was concluded that Bella was suffering from increased ocular pressure and the only option to alleviate Bella’s pain is to have the eye surgically removed.  Since her other eye is also at risk (and to save her the unnecessary trauma of another surgery), it was decided to have both of her eyes surgically removed. The cost of Bella’s tests, surgery, and bloodwork will be $715.

Beau and I don’t ask for help very often, but we are reaching out to our community of friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere to see if they can assist us with Bella’s expenses.  Even if you are not in a position to donate, if you can please say a prayer or a kind thought for our beautiful Bella, we will be forever grateful from the bottom of our hearts!  Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Hello everyone! Great news!!! Bella is home now & resting comfortably. I went to pick her up this morning, but the doctor wanted to keep her most of the day today just observe her & make sure she's doing okay. When I finally got to see her she wagged her tail and was her happy normal self, you wouldn't even know she had surgery. She's eating good and laying around now, she's definitely sleepy from the pain pills. She does have to wear the cone of shame, but hopefully won't need it after her checkup next week. We're very happy to have her back home!

Hello everyone! Sorry that this update is appearing so late. Bella was scheduled for surgery early this morning, but it was postponed until 4pm. I just got a call from the doctor that Bella's surgery went well, but she needs to be kept overnight to recover. We will be picking her up first thing tomorrow morning. THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared our page, and prayed for Bella ! We are amazed and truly humbled at how quickly we were able to reach our goal. I will post another update tomorrow morning after we pick her up, and I will also attach an updated photo of Bear & Tres because I know that many of you helped care for our babies at the SPCA. Thanks again!!!
