Thomas Johnson Fights ALS

$7,808 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 95 people in 55 months
On January 21, 2014 I was diagnosed with ALS. ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This is a disorder that attacks the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This causes the inability to properly control muscle movement.

This disease is deadly and has slowly tortured me. First, stripping me of my ability to provide and function normally with my family. Before ALS, I played sports for Southeast High School, Bacone University and Langston University. I graduated and had been working in the oil field.

I currently cannot do anything for myself and am dependent on the care of my wife, family, and friends. I cannot eat, shower, or even walk by myself any longer. This is becoming more and more difficult for daily functions especially with my three boys.

The donations will go towards providing a personal care taker, medical bills, and supplies.

Thank you.

Hello, I want to say thank you to everyone for your continuous support. I greatly appreciate it. Today alone we have received over a 100 shares and messages of support and great information. For those who are asking about the type of van we need. We are needing a lift van that opens on the side. This will allow our family of five to fit. I am 6'1. When I sit in my chair I will be 5'0 inside the van.

Much love! Thomas.

I recently received my custom power wheel chair. Due to the size of the chair, and it weighing 350 pounds, I am not able to transport it without a lift van. I am searching for a van to be able to transport my chair and enjoy life much easier.
