The Facts
Daniel Byrne has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (adenocarcinoma) of the pancreas and liver. Dan is 33 and the diagnosis has come as a tremendous shock to him and to all his family and friends.
So today the fight begins in earnest and the gloves come off whilst Dan deals with a truly shit hand. We’re not interested in shitistics, this is about Dan.
Who is Dan?
Daniel, often known as Dan, or by his nickname Byrnsie, had a dedicated career as an outdoor adventure guide, helping the personal development of others. He later became Head Instructor Trainer at Outward Bound Australia. Countless trainee guides can recall their special Dan moment. A moment where his encouragement allowed them to rise to the challenge, believe in their own power and adopt his enthusiasm. He delivered wisdom with a sense of humour and laughter followed.
Daniel lives life to the full. When he’s not enjoying time with family and friends, his home is the outdoors, camping, fishing and hiking with his dog, Boof. Despite his talent, everyone has their undoing trait - no one can get a truck bogged like Dan can.
If you know or have met Daniel, this is your opportunity to step forward and say thanks. If you have never met Daniel, this is your opportunity to support an exceptional outdoorsman who has contributed his heart and soul to countless youngsters and trainees.
Where we are at
Daniel is starting the biggest fight of his life, FOR his life. He is getting a port-a-cath inserted so that he can start receiving chemotherapy and other drugs. Using this stuff to fight cancer is a pretty shit way to start the New Year but without it, worse.
What we want to do with the funds
Daniel’s family want to find Daniel THE BEST integrative-oncologist, whether that is in Australia or overseas. Heck if the best integrative-oncologist lives in an igloo in the Artic, they’ll head there!
Dan has a lot on his mind right now and is in pain. Additional funds will provide Daniel with the best cancer fighting organic foods, nutrients, counseling and general holistic care whilst he deals with the chemo and stress of the diagnosis.
Healing takes many pathways. Daniel wants to spend time with his family and see friends to enjoy some peaceful happy time but he also has some places in mind that he has never had time to visit. Knowing he can afford to go now will give Dan a positive goal to look forward to. Dan is hell bent on visiting Horizontal Falls in the Kimberley. An amazing natural wonder for an amazing nature man.
