The Veloroos are a team of non-professional female endurance cyclists, passionate about riding bikes and pushing the boundaries of what you can achieve if you let go of fears, take a step outside your comfort zone, and dedicate yourself to your goal.

The Race Around Ireland is a  2,200 km race has 23,000m of climbing, complicated navigation & plenty of wind, rain and difficult conditions that make it one of the toughest endurance challenges in Europe.  The Veloroos team of 4 will be the first Australian team to enter this race, aiming to win the female category and smash the course record.

Unlike other cycling races, the RAI is a non-stop race held on open roads. There are no marshals controlling traffic and there are no planned aid stations, rest stops, or stages.  Once the clock starts, the team will race continuously, until they reach the finish line. This is why a support crew is essential to keep us as safe as possible and enable us to sleep in the vans between shifts on the bike.

We all have full time jobs and do not do this professionally. In order to prepare our bodies and minds, we are training before and after work and getting up in the middle of the night to simulate race conditions. Each rider is committed to funding their place on the team which includes our flights and race entry as well as all training costs prior to the race.  However we  desperately need contributions towards the cost for crew and rider kit, equipment, support vehicles, fuel and feeding the team of 12 crew who have volunteered to help us to achieve our dream of winning the Race Around Ireland. The funds raised through this site will be split equally between helping us achieve our goal and supporting our two chosen charities, Tour De Cure (riding to cure cancer) and the Amy Gillett Foundation (helping improve awareness and cycle safety).

Thank you so much for your support! We had the most amazing race. met some wonderful people in Ireland and saw the most spectacular scenery as we raced as hard as we possibly could to win the Race Around Ireland. Navigation was complicated and we did get lost. The roads, wind and terrain were tough and there was rerouting due to flooding but we did it! We broke the female course record coming 1st in the female teams and 4th overall against the male teams. Our average speed was 30.42 km/hr across the 2200km. We finished in 72 hours 47 minutes. The average speed for 1st place male team was 30.87km/hr and our time is the 9th fastest time of any 4 person team (male or female) to have ever completed the race!
Thank you so much for all your support! We couldn't have done it without you. Watch out for our documentary on the race. We will let you know when it is released and we'll continue to raise money for Tour de Cure (Cancer) and The Amy Gillett Foundation (cycle safety)
