UPDATE | Jacob 16 months later. He is now able to attend school in Quebec and is doing well. Thank you!

Jacob is Autistic. He is smart but he learns differently. The waitlist for government funded therapy is excruciatingly long. Neuroplasticity is greatest before the age of six. We took all of our savings and started Jacob in private Intensive Behavioural Intervention in April at a cost of $5070 per month. He went from 1 word sentences to 10 word sentences. Thanks to the therapy centre he is now day potty trained. He has so much untapped potential! Early intervention works! Help us keep Jacob in therapy!

we are selling our home in the hopes of paying for more therapy!

As a devastating shock to both Dominique and myself, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced this week that all children turning 5 prior to May 2018 will have their psychological prescription for Intensive Behaviour Intervention revoked and taken off the wait list. As of two weeks ago Jacob was #77 on the list. Although many things have been promised by the government we will continue to fundraise for Jacob and try to keep him in therapy until August 2016 (at a total cost of $15,000). After which he will hopefully start school. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Greenlawn Park yesterday! Special thank you to Kristine and Adrian for spearheading the event and everyone who volunteered and pitched in. Dominique and I are truly grateful to be a part of a community that is so compassionate. You are all so amazing! We now have enough funds to keep Jacob in therapy until the end of May.

Until government and private enterprise offer timely and realistic support for children with autism, young lads like Jacob will have to depend on individuals like you and me for any hope of help.

Please consider helping this young boy who has progressed significantly with the expensive therapy, which is not covered by government or private health insurance.
