Martin Garza Jr Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Martin Garza Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 after his battle with cancer. He leaves behind three minor sons; the oldest graduating high school this May. This Go Fund Me was originally set up to help pay for Marty's medical expenses. We would like to now use it as a way for people to contribute towards his sons' education.
Original Story:
My name is Martin Garza Jr. I turned 50 years old in August 2015 and was married in November 2015. I have two young boys and one stepson. In April 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer. Because of my diagnosis I was unable to continue working full time in the oil and gas industry.
I was told by my oncologist that there was not a cure for cancer and that any medical procedure would be ongoing. Once I started chemotherapy I would be at home most days feeling bored and somewhat depressed. I started up a former hobby of mine - designing and creating rugged wooden crosses. When I was employed full time and healthy I made crosses from reclaimed wood and would embellish them with uniqe crosses, stones, ribbons, small cowboy boots, and other items. I would then sell the crosses at local craft shows.
In order to keep my mind occupied so that I wouldn’t be worrying about my illness, I started making as many crosses as I could on a daily basis. As I made crosses, I was reminded of the many promises that Jesus has given to those who believe in him and my feeling of hopelessness caused by cancer was diminished.
Medical bills for cancer treatment can be astronomical. I will be receiving treatment for cancer for an indefinite amount of time.
Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in purchasing any of my Crosses, leave your email address and I can send you pictures and more information.
Romans 8:18
Consider that our present suffering are not worth comparing with the Glory that will be Revealed in us.
Thank you and God bless,
Martin Garza Jr.
