Lead-safe housing for Theo & Winnie
As most of our freinds and family know, last fall, we discovered that our two year old, Theo, was lead-poisoned. After much research and testing, we found the source of his lead exposure: the plumbing in our rental unit. We also found out that we were expecting Winnie. She was exposed minimally in-utero, (mother's BLL was only 3), but no amount of lead is safe, especially for developing children and infants.
Were the source the soil, the paint, just about anything but water, we would have community resources (or a lawyer) to fall back on to assist us with either forcing our landlord to remediate or moving us to safe housing. But, because it's the pipes and because we have 11ppb VS the cut of of 15ppb, we have no recourse but to handle it ourselves. Currently, we drink and cook with bottled water but that is not sustainable nor is it fantastic for our environment.
That's where you come in! Help us move to housing that is for-sure lead-free! We are asking for the aproximate amount it would cost to move in (approximate first month's rent and 1.5X monthly rent for deposit), and anything more would be used to pay for movers and incidentals.
