The Mischievous Motrin Muncher

Donation protected
Welcome to the story of the mischievous motrin muncher named Lana!

Lana is a year old beagle/terrier mix who I rescued approximately 4 months ago from Save A Stray/Carolina Canines. Lana came from a severe case of neglect and hoarding where she was found emaciated and in extremely poor health. After escaping euthanasia, she was taken by a foster where a few months later I found my baby girl to come home to me and her nearly identical (non-kin) brother, Roman.

Since her rescue, she has been loved, pleasantly and appropriately spoiled, and rehabilitated from her fearful, timid, and shy state. It took me a week to touch her without her tensing up, wincing, and closing her eyes shut tight. It took even longer for her not to pee and screech out of terror when a big dog came her way.

She is now a happy, confident, and surprisingly bossy little girl, who loves playing with big dogs at the dog park with her brother and my room mates dog!

Recently, being the mischeivous (ahem, I mean, "adventurous")  little nugget that she is, Lana got herself into a bag that had motrin loose within it.

She digested an unknown amount. Motrin causes serious and sometimes fatal toxicity in dogs, and can lead to acute or chronic renal failure.

Thank God she was taken to the MSPCA emergency clinic so soon. Lana was immediately and aggressively treated to reverse toxic effects happening in her tiny 10 lb body.

After a 3 day visit, Lana's blood values have returned to normal, and she is healthy.

But 3 days with such high quality and effective treatment cost us. I am so, so thankful that my long days of worrying, crying, and missing my girl are over--but her wonderful treatment cost us $1,500... (a portion has been covered by a credit, but all must be paid back) money that I simply do not have as a 20-something with 2 dogs, renting an apartment, and apprenticing to be a dog groomer/pet care professional to fulfill my dreams of making pets lives better.

Please...consider sharing, donating, spreading the word to help me cover the costs of Lana's amazing and successful treatment at the MSPCA. I have cried so many tears of sadness and joy, I am so happy to have her back, but I do not want these bills for treatment that saved my babies life to haunt me.

Thank you so much for reading, Lana loves you!

(DISCLAIMER: I had joined this website about 10 months ago and out of curiosity for what a donation page would look like, I started one. When I began this campaign, I unknowingly just edited the one I started before. That is why it says it's been up for 10 months, but it's only been about a week. Thank you!)
