The Hungry Minnow Start Up Fund

The Hungry Minnow at Nantucket's Children's Beach is a cafe and a hub for the community.  Featuring greatbites for kids and adults alike, The Minnow also highlights local artisans and their crafts.

This concession was granted to Rebecca Chapa and Ambergris Art early in spring of 2017.  While year one was successful, as any newborn there have been growing pains.  We did a LOT but we want to do a lot more and become profitable so we can better serve the Nantucket community and support other local products and artisans.  We have our equipment but are still paying for it and we need more staff.  We would love to be able to fund guest chefs and popups in the next season as well as special events, like crafternoons, field day and a fall fest.

Your small contribution could make a huge impact on our small business, it would allow us to move forward at a faster pace and not miss this first season on island!  

As some of you may know, winter on Nantucket is rough.  Emotionally and economically it can be draining and when your business is closed seasonally the winter can be challenging.  As a result owner Rebecca Chapa is heading on a pilgrimage, a spiritual backpacking journey from France across the Pyrenees and 500 miles to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.  This five week trip is intended to create the mindset for great things to happen throughout the rest of the year and a chance to regroup and come back reinvigorated for the 2018 season.
