Help The Great Enough make an album!

We don't have enough money to complete our recordings. The project will die without your help.

Who are we? The Great Enough is passionate rock music with a dash of soul and folk. We've whittled 45 original songs down to a smaller number that we think are just about perfect, and we want to get them out on the airwaves for you.

Why are we different? Because every member of this band lives and dies on our music career. We aren't weekend warriors. We're trying hard to be the real deal. Any help you can offer to keep us in the studio and on the road is a giant leap for musiciankind.

Every donation comes with a free digital copy of the Dead Letters digital EP, "When the World Began," as well as a discount on our next release, scheduled for early 2015.

$3000 will let us do a limited 180g vinyl pressing of the album and cover a portion of the recording costs.

while we work on getting our website up and running.

Studio Time - We need money to pay for the hours in the studio, tracking all that beautiful music. This includes the use of a professional drum room - something no home studio can mimic. It also covers the purchase or rental of the home gear required to finish the record in our own studio.

Postproduction - No record can be released without being mixed and mastered. These are rare skills that cost money to hire. We're having the record professionally mixed by someone secret and special, whose track record is impeccable.

Duplication - We want to press physical CDs, vinyl, and custom digital download cards. We're even considering USB flash drive albums. No one will print these up for free!

Distribution - We'll be using your funds to help with distribution costs, as well - that's paying to get the songs hosted by music retailers (iTunes, Amazon, etc), internet radio (Pandora, Spotify), and FM/Satellite radio.

Marketing - We'll be using a portion of funds to cover the costs of marketing the record. That's posters, write-ups, travel costs for interviews or the costs associated with having our site featured online.

When you think about it, we'll be stretching that $3000 pretty darn far, all things considered. In fact, we've already accepted that $3000 is less than half of what this is actually going to cost. But hey, it's our dream, and we're savvy enough businessmen to make it happen.

We are about two weeks away from finishing tracking. We've committed an end-of-month date to submit the record for mixing. Which means the new digital release is getting closer. Vinyl will be slower, obviously, but we are working hard at that as well.

The Great Enough has been working hard to be ... Well, great enough to justify your contributions. We know how patient you have been, and we'll be throwing some surprises out there for those of you who've waited this long.

We are LOOOOONG overdue for an update, so let me hit you guys with what's been going on, why perks have been delayed (excepting your digital album ,which you have all received by now, I hope!)

What initially began as a purely folk project has transformed as we realized our roots are wider and deeper than we intended. So we're embracing the eclecticism - which unfortunately meant we had to make some changes.

The band semi-dissolved a few months ago. I was despondent about the whole thing, especially because we'd already paid for and used recording time, and the material sounded really good. Thanks for that - you guys paid for it.

But it felt dishonest. I'd taken funding, and we weren't delivering. So I stopped posting, stopped looking for the rest of the money The Great Enough needed. And I went back to the drawing board, figuring that if I could reinvent and reinvigorate, we'd have a reason for this funding page to exist.

Well, I was right. Brian and I kept writing, and we were joined by drummer John Hoff. We've parted ways with some friends, but our work in the studio has been exceptional as of late, and we've FINALLY gotten to the point where it's sounding like a record again.

And this time, we're doing it ourselves. Brian interned for years at recording studios, and I've had the great fortune of being in the room with some of the greats, and it made sense to pool our knowledge and resources and start recording ourselves. Which, by the way, is exactly as expensive (hell, more) than renting out studios. The first song we re-recorded, called "The Captain's Daughter" came out like a retro-throwback to Toad the Wet Sprocket, early Goo Goo Dolls, with a dash of The Smiths, and it's bowling me over. Can't wait to share, once we've recorded keyboards and finished the vocal.

The point is, we're coming back in a big way. We've set ourselves a January-based deadline for recording, and mixing, and we're looking at releasing material in digital trickles leading up to a big vinyl/cd release. I'll be updating perks (still honoring all the old stuff) and posting a few teasers.

We weren't sure we'd be able to do this. We weren't sure we'd be worthy of the time and money that's been invested. But we're sure now, and we just wanted you to know.

So we'll be reinvigorating and reposting this page in the near future. Meanwhile, we're also excited to share the news that our singer, Bright, is also producing the third album of Philly folkster goddess Hayley Jane. But more details on all that later. Thanks for your faith and your patience.
