We have built it now we need help to keep it growing
Three years ago The Geneva Betterment had an idea to have a market to raise money to work on a large project. The renovation of the old Geneva School Grounds. Our fundraiser, The Market, has been so successful that it is quickly outgrowing our present venue, Maynes Grove Conservation Park. At this time we do not have any venue options in the town of Geneva that can accommodate the size of The Market. Thousands of shoppers come from all over, even surrounding states, to frequent not only The Market but also businesses in surrounding communities along the way.
Time is of essence! A recent inspection of the Geneva Auditorium and Lunchroom says we have an approximate five year timeline before the building is beyond repair. Our bi-annual market has already funded $30,000 for the replacement of the roof on the lunchroom, locker rooms and band room. The roof of the auditorium and stage still needs replaced. Our market may fall short to financially support this final phase of the roof project before our 5 year window.
With the repair of the building on the school property it will allow us to accommodate the increasing size of The Market. The Market will then continue to offer a large variety of vendors, currently at 100, and continue to bring in thousands of shoppers and overnight guests into Franklin County. Preserving history and turning this building into a community center, will give the local area another rental option for social gatherings, receptions and community events.
