The Gap Theatre Project is a grassroots Action Research Project aimed at increasing the opportunities of professional work for writers, actors and other theatre practitioners in Greater Manchester and the North West. Feeling that there is a ‘gap’ between the thriving fringe and the profile mainstream producing houses, a group of writers, actors, directors, producers and other theatre makers came together with the aim of exploring how to create new ways to serve these professionals as they develop.
We’re hugely encouraged by the interest and support we’ve gained since we started (including being nominated for a Manchester Theatre Award), so six of us, are running the Manchester 10k to raise funds to keep this project moving forwards as we try to secure further funding for research, commissions, productions, forums and creating/sharing resources. We believe what we’re doing will make a difference to the theatre scene in the North West and any donations we receive will help us in that aim! Thank you!
