The VA and DoD dropped the ball

I am in my last 4 months of my bachelors program and have been put in between a rock an a hard place. The amount I need overall is small. I am a Navy veteran and spouse and was going to school on my GI Bill. All gravy I thought, I was wrong. I have fought with the Veterans Administration multiple times about non-payment, not processing claims, and etc. Finally I was reaching the end of my benefits. I knew this and was ready, I had the privilege to use my husbands benefits as he is still an active duty service member, and it would make sense for me to use partial benefits as we agreed upon, to finish school and start my career in Healthcare Administration. 

He transferred them to me around June of 2018. I however could not accept his benefits as they would over ride my own. So I waited as instructed by the VA. Fast forward to a new policy being put in place that causes active duty members who have been in for over 6  years (my husband is a little over 10), have 4 years left on their contract in order to transfer benefits; he has three just shy of four. Hopefully you can see my frustration. I spent many hours on the phone with a multitude of people, just for them all to tell me nothing can be done, and because we make just over a certain amount, I do not qualify for aid (like we don’t have bills to pay ). I was fortunate to get a large amount of my remaining classes covered by a federal loan. This left me with a remaining amount of $1620, I would need to pay out of pocket and of course my first payment couldn’t even be put on hold, it is due the 15th of October (if you wanted to get me a birthday gift, here ya go lol). 

This is a hard thing for me to ask for help, as I am usually the one helping others. I wouldn’t be asking for it if I wasn’t running out of options. I can’t waste all that I have accomplished in my schooling for four months. Anything helps and am forever grateful.
