The tragic death of John Mills - $$ for the family
John Mills was a man who radiated joy and had an infectious smile. He was a husband, father, teacher, and friend. As the principal of the school at which he worked, I looked forward to seeing the energy he brought to his Grade 5 class every day and interacting with him in our staff room, where he always brought a smile and positive attitude.
Unfortunately, he passed away unexpectedly during the night of May 13th, which has left us all in shock.
He is survived by his wife Seana, who has just undergone major back surgery. She is currently off work and has limited mobility. His son Liam is only 10 years old. These funds will go directly to Seana to help her burden the cost of the funeral, and help her with everyday expenses.
John worked as a teacher as St. Mary's School Chilliwack, St. Patrick's Maple Ridge, and Sacred Heart in Delta. We are hoping these communities where he served dutifully in Catholic education are especially motivated to contribute to this campaign.
First of all, thank you very much for your support to Seana and Liam during this difficult time, and contributing to the GoFundMe campaign in John's name. As the campaign organizer, I am happy to say that we raised nearly $10k to help Seana bear some of the costs associated with the sudden death of her husband. At her request, I will be withdrawing the funds now and transferring them to her via e-transfer. The campaign will continue to accept funds, however, so this will not conclude the initiative; I hope that we are able to come even closer to our goal of $20k for Seana and Liam.
