The primary reason for establishing this GoFundMe account, is to keep the Thunderbird Registry active and available to register Ford Thunderbirds past and present. Without financial backing, the Registry will not be able viewable to the public.
The Thunderbird Registry is an on line database dedicated to registering all Ford Thunderbirds that remain either intact and operational, or remaining as parts cars, or even just exist on paper.
The Registry has not been up and operational of late due to the fact that the database is outdated. It is in need of a current upgrade; however, upgrading the Registry takes quite a bit of time and funding.
Since 2002, John Rotella, creator, owner, and curator of the Registry, has donated his time, money and knowledge of the Ford Thunderbird. It is time to relieve some of John's burden by donating funds to insure that the Registry continues to be viable.
Money donated to the cause via the GoFundMe account will be used to restructure, modernize, and make efficient the Registry in accordance with current Internet standards. This will include: discontinuation of the use of Access Database with ASPX pages and conversion to MySQL and PHP pages. Approximately 30 pages of code will need to be reformatted, each containing approximately 100 lines of data. PHP is a modern technology standard that is reliable, quick, and unable to have data pirated, or altered.
