The Swan Song Project

The Swan Song Project gives those facing end of life the opportunity to write and record an original song.
The project was launched at Marie Curie Hospice Bradford in May 2017 and has had great results so far. The sessions are facilitated by a professional songwriter and are open to patients, carers, friends, families and the bereaved. This opportunity is used by participants to explore their thoughts, express their emotions, tell their story and record a beautiful message for their loved ones.
Every participant is then given their song on a cd and has the option of sharing it on the Swan Song Project website.
We are now expanding the project continuing it's development in the hospice and also offering it to the wider public. Anyone who would like to take part is welcome to contact me directly and arrange a session at [email redacted].

“amazing experience ....it has been so lovely to talk through my story.....my family cried”
“It made me happy”
“never in a million years did I think I would listen to myself on a CD and it is was a great experience.”
“it's my birthday today and the gift of this song is brilliant. I may play it at my funeral but most importantly my family can listen to it. I get lonely and this has really given me a project to concentrate on.”

We are in the process of setting up The Swan Song Project as it's own organisation with charitable status. This will allow us to apply for more grants to hopefully secure the future of the project. All donations are greatly appreciated and the project has very little in the way of overheads so the majority of the money goes to funding the actual contact time with participants.
