Hello beautiful people of the world! I am making this campaign on behalf of one of my best friend's Lori Shenkenberger, her kids, and her husband Steve. They could really use some help right now. Here are a list of needs for the Shenkenberger family and what they need to pay for:
1. 24 hour nurse care for Steve when he comes home to the outpatient housing.
2. Outpatient therapy: occupational, speech, and physical therapy in Colorado.
3. They also need a sprinter van. This is a wheel chair accessible van for Steve, Lori, and all 5 boys to be able to get around town, therapy, grocery, etc.
4. Plus money for a live in nanny for the 5 kids, while Lori is on Steve duty 24 hours a day.

Here's the story:
Steve Shenkenberger was riding his mountain bike on Super Bowl Sunday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Laguna Niguel, California. Steve was found by two good Samaritans (thank you for helping my friend). Steve has been in a coma since February, he is currently in a minimally conscious state. His body and brain are currently healing after the accident. He has undergone many surgeries and painful injuries all over his body and brain. Steve is a Father of 5 young boys, ages 9 years to 8 months old. They have 2 babies in diapers. Steve is the sole provider for the family. Lori is a warrior handling their lives while Steve is still in the treatment center. In an incredible effort to give Steve the best care she can give him, she has moved her entire family to Colorado for the summer. Whilst Steve is improving every day, Lori is exhausted managing their lives, being a mother to 5 young boys, paying high medical bills, giving Steve physical therapy, and sticking by his side constantly. Lori is completely over whelmed at the moment with her new way of life. Just a few weekends ago their home was burglarized, they took hundreds of dollars in cash meant for Steve and the kids, credit cards, and donated gift cards. Lori just cant catch a break.

Please help out the Shenkenbergers in their moment of need. They are pillars in their community. Even with such a big family they have always opened their hearts and their home to friends and family in their community.

Steve and Lori have a beautiful love story, they have been married for 10 years and dating since high school. They are in their mid 30's. This money will help Lori to have piece of mind as she goes through this emotional time. This money will go toward Steve's extremely high medical bills, food, household bills, and care for the kids. The money will also more importantly go towards Steve's therapies and hopefully toward a new sprinter van, that is a wheel chair accessible car. Steve's bill's will continue to accumulate for the next few years. In all the years I've known Lori she has never asked for anything.

Thank you for loving hearts and your generosity,

Hey world out there,
I wanted to update you guys on my friend Lori Schenkenberger, her husband Steve, and their adorable kids.
So I spent a weekend out there with Lori and she has this new amazing caregiver for the kids named Meredith. She is a live in nanny to all 5 kids, she rarely takes a minute off, or even a day off. She is there as a team mate with Lori while Lori takes care of Steve full time. They are tag teaming diaper changes, food prep, chores, and taking general care of all the babies and older kids. Lori is working tirelessly to manage Steve's healing care, bills, the children, and Steve's legalities (the crime committed against him). Not only that but frequent doctor visits, as well as unfortunately emergency care visits at times. Needless to say Lori has to govern 8 mouths to feed, on donations, rental incomes (if they pay their rent), and charity fundraising.

Lori is focusing on the future as well as today, with hopes that she can continue this type of care for her children and for Steve, as well as food, education, and a roof over their heads in even 5 years from now. Steve will take a long time to recover. Lori has to manage everything, and would like to give them all a secure future for next few years.

Steve is doing well at the moment. He is having brain exercises preformed by Lori, but that a dear friend has donated a neurofeedback machine for 3 months, and part-time CNA is helping lift Steve in and out of bed, a few times a week to help Lori (Steve is a very big guy).

Like I said before Lori is planning for the future as well as her immediate bills and anything else that comes up. Lori is extremely positive, upbeat, encouraging, and strong. She never complains, I am amazed how she is pulling this off, thanks to the wonderful community that has supported her the whole way. Thank you!

Her needs as of now are great but can be accomplished with your generosity and help:
1. Steve's recent medical emergency has a $15,000.00 deductible. He was passing kidney stones, had Sepis ( a gnarly infection in the blood) plus a UTI and was in a lot of pain.
2. He needs a LOT of rehab and physical therapy.
3. Lori would like help to take care of Steve, so she can get breaks. She would like a CNA (certified nursing assistant) that can come to work for them part-time.
4. She needs help to pay for Meredith (the nanny angel), and some one to come once in a while to give her a 1/2 -1 day off.
Thank you everyone for your love and support!

Cheers to a happy 2018!
I hope you and yours are all staying warm and safe out there. I just wanted to update you that the Schenkenbergers have safely made it home to their home in southern California. Lori couldn't be more thrilled to be home with her familiar surroundings, and her supportive and wonderful friends and family. She is now trying to get their newly renovated wheel chair friendly house unpacked and livable for all her peoples. She still needs our help. Her angel of a care giver to her young boys moved with her out there to southern California from Colorado. I think they even took a wheel chair friendly small plane home to orange county.

They are beginning 2018 with new hopes, and obstacles. If you have any extra cash lying around the house that you just want to spend helping someone, they could really use the help. Anything helps even money for some coffee to keep Lori going and energized. Thank you for your love and support! Happy new year, and please don't forget to wear your helmets whenever riding, skating, off roading.
