The Sanctuary Public Art Project
Hi everyone! I'm here to ask for your support in funding my next public art project, The Sanctuary. This project helps people shift their inner voice from one of criticism to one of empowerment.
This Sanctuary is for everyone who has ever said to themselves,
"I'm not good enough."
"I'm just not that smart." or
"I don't think I can do it."
It's time to become aware of our limiting self-talk and replace it with affirmations and expansive beliefs so that we can become the versions of ourselves.
Project Description
We'll create a labyrinth with a meditation/yoga sanctuary in the middle. When participants enter the experience, they will be given a blank green "seed" upon which, they will write something they need to believe about themselves. They will hang this positive mantra from the labyrinth so that eventually, thousands of "seeds" with positive thoughts surround participants as they walk through the experience.
Imagine walking through a field being surrounded by compliments like,
"I am a courageous risk-taker."
"I am unlimited."
"I am fierce."
Participants will be asked to notice if this feels different than their normal self-talk.
As they leave, participants will be given a postcard with a "seed" on it so they can write a compliment they need to hear and believe about themselves to reach their greatest potential. They can take that card with them as a reminder to empower and uplift themselves.
The Plan
The project will launch in Alexandria, VA June 7 - 30th, then we'll package up our lessons learned, programming and branded assets into a manual so that other people can bring The Sanctuary to their communities.
Your funds will be used to buy materials and printing; fund the creation of a professional video and the development of a manual; and support some of my time in bringing this project to life.
The project launches on June 7, but I need to start buying and testing materials now, so the sooner you donate, the quicker I can be sure to create a world-class, replicable project.
Your support means that I can continue to develop projects like these that raise consciousness around deeply human issues that hold individuals and communities back from flourishing.
It also means that your impact is multiplied by hundreds of other community activists and change-makers who will bring this project to their communities.
