Hello! My name is Darek Michalecki and I am 19 years old. I'm building a race jeep to compete in THE HARDEST off-road race in North America, The King of The Hammers.
THE STORY:
I started my adventure with off-road racing about 7 years ago, when I was 12. Since then, I have won many endurance races in Europe. Three years ago I moved to Florida from Poland (Europe). Since my father currently owns an off-road shop, and I have an opportunity to build the jeep, I decided that I would like to race here, in the United States, as well. IT HAS BEEN ONE OF MY GREATEST DREAMS to start in the Ultra4 race.
To be able to afford the race car and parts I started to work as an auto detailer. I wash other people's cars almost every day. I spend every single dime on my jeep to make it race worthy... but sometimes it's not enough.
I'm building a Jeep to start in the 4600 stock class (Ultra4). I would like to make it as reliable as possible and finish the race, that's why I spend almost every spare minute I have working on it. Step by step I have built the jeep to the point where little work remains. I know from the experience that the worst thing during a race is to be focused on parts that may break, and not on the race.
THE COSTS:
Entry fees for the race are very expensive... It's over $1000 to just start in the race.
I live in Florida, and The King of The Hammers is in California... The costs of the travel, just go get there will be very high (fuel, lodging, food, tolls, etc. )
Also, there are still little things to do on the car that I need to address.
To start in the race I have to have a lot of safety equipment such as fire suit, air helmet, 5 point seat belts, fire extinguishers, etc. Safety equipment cost a lot of money, but it's mandatory...
The King of The Hammers race is in February (2019). I just graduated from school and have a lot of time to get the car ready for the race. I just need a little financial help...
