The "KU DRUMMER" Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
Donovan Miller, the "KU Drummer" whose  pep band video went viral last month, is actually a talented Jazz Studies major at the University of Kansas and a 2014 graduate of East Ridge High School in Woodbury, MN.

Donovan was supposed to graduate this coming May 2019 but was unable to register for classes to complete his final semester because he ran out of funds. Because of his dedication, he continued to play in the pep band and received national attention for his spirited performance.

Donovan has had a passion for music since birth and began playing the drums at the tender age of 3 years old at his church.  Though a naturally gifted musician, over the years, Donovan honed his craft through intensive study and participation in bands from elementary through high school and was recognized throughout those years for his musical gifts.

Since attending the University of Kansas, he has continued to mature musically and not only plays the drums, but is a gifted pianist, percussionist, West African drummer, composer, and arranger. Many of his original pieces and arrangements have been performed by KU Jazz Ensembles and Big Bands, as well as his own band, Glass Bandit.

As a result of his work, he has had the opportunity to participate in the Next Generation Jazz Festival presented by the Monterey Jazz Festival; performed at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, DC; was part of the group that won the 2017 World Percussion Ensemble Competition at PASIC; and most recently, toured Europe performing in a number of jazz festivals including the world renowned Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

Donovan has a bright future ahead of him. He plans to pursue graduate degrees after graduation and wants to be a composer, performer and instructor.

He just needs help right now to cover the balance owed for the fall 2018 semester and the fees that will be owed for fall 2019 so that he can finish his last semester and graduate.  Any funds raised over that amount will be used towards graduate school.

Donovan has asked me, his mother, to manage the campaign as well as all related withdrawal  and payment transactions. Please message me with any questions or if you have ideas about other possible resources. We really appreciate your support of the efforts to #helpdonovangraduate! - Denise Miller
