If our kids are going to be saved in the midst of poverty, inner-city violence and a society that tells them they are hopeless....we have to get on the ground and go save them! Chicago was our first stop, now we need to go to Detroit, Baltimore/DC, Oakland, Charlotte and New Orleans. The more support you offer, the more cities we can spread this message to!
We are who we have been waiting for. What started as a viral newsclip ( the "bruh youre not from Chicago" clip has 8 million views!) inspired us to take our message of self-determination, academic excellence and collective engagement on the road.
Eboni K. Williams, Gianno Caldwell and Richard A. Fowler went into their pockets to send themselves to Chicago in order to see what was really going on with our students in one of our most talked about American cities. As media personalities, all three are called upon to discuss whats happening in Chicago (Gianno is from Chicago and Richard...well its complicated ;-) Eboni is a daughter of the south (North Carolina) but desperated needed to see for herself how she could help these students because our kids are our greatest resouce. We met students that are smart and passionate, but dont see examples of people that look like them, some from what they come from and end up living their dreams. Thats where we come in!
Our impact over the two days we spent in Chicago changed lives, ours and the students! We visited 3 schools and a church and spoke to them about their goals, their challenges and why despite their circustances, they can and will succeed. We shared our indivisual stories of single mothers struggling with drug-abuse, incarceration, and poverty. Then we each shared how we (with community support) navigated those challenges to still find success as young professionals striving in governement, the law, business and media.
What do we need your support/money for? While we came out of pocket for our first stop in Chicago, we realized as much as we would LOVE to be completely self-funded, we simply can't. Costs include airfare, hotel stays, marketing materials to pass along to students, etc. Our goal is $7,500 and we will be very conservative with your money (as we are with our own) so that we can stretch that impact as many schools and communities as possible.
In exchange for your support, you'lll be listed as a "Supporter" donations between $5-$50, "Contributor" donations between $50-$250, or "Friend" $250 and up of The Power Within Tour.
We operate with full transparency and you will receive updates with testimonials, photos and videos of our impact with each stop. Here are just a few from our Chicago students:
