The Old Woman Who Refused to Die

I am raising money to publish the first of my new three-part series book, The Old Woman Who Refused to Die.

Have you ever picked up a book with stories so real and relatable that you knew you just had to buy it? Well, The Old Woman Who Refused to Die is that kind of book. That's why I need your help to have it published.

Here's a snippet of what it's about.

"Synopsis:

Esit-Ima is getting married. And Nana, her revered grandmother, has something special in mind for Esit-Ima's wedding gift. Nana is not flush with cash or gold, or any other material wealth, but she has something which has always set her apart in their rural, African community: an unalloyed curiosity for knowledge. She is a village elder, a custodian of wisdom, compassion, and understanding – the virtues necessary for a truly successful life. Hoping to provide her granddaughter these ideals, Nana arranges for the young woman to spend several afternoons at her feet, during which she instructs the bride-to-be in the traditional manner of gaining wisdom and understanding: through storytelling.

The stories Nana tells are parables with moral endings, which she believes relate to specific life issues her granddaughter might face as a married woman. They are also tales every thoughtful, caring human being, no matter their age or station, will find valuable. So come, gather under the baobab tree to receive Nana's gift of insight, grace, and kindness, delivered in tales which will thrill, move, and inspire you. In Sarah Udoh-Grossfurthner's The Old Woman Who Refused to Die, we are all students of life, and Nana is here to teach us.

A bit more about Nana :

Nana never acquired a formal education, so she can neither read nor write. But even as a young girl, she yearned to know things, which was why she was the first woman in their community to buy a transistor radio. When knowledge of the ‘miraculous Talking Box’ first took their small village by storm in the late 20th century, Nana's innocuous purchase caused a scandal in their highly male-dominated society. Nevertheless, she persisted to listen and to learn, and eventually her acumen earned her a position of power and respect in the village, making her a trail blazing woman of importance. Her words are sure to leave you inspired and touched!

And now, a little about me...

My dream is to have this (and all of my work) published.  But the writing profession, though fulfilling, can be an uphill struggle.

And so, I am seeking your support to help make this come true.

Your donation will help pay for the following vital steps in the publishing process:

editing, proofreading, printing (probably 50 pieces initially) and distribution, publishing and marketing,

It is often said in Africa that it takes a whole village or community to raise a child. This saying does not apply to raising children alone. It also applies to the process of helping make dreams come true.

I am hoping you will be my village.  A vital community that helps make my dream come true.

By the way, I write thought-provoking, women-focused stories that aim to encourage, heal and uplift. Here's a video clip of one of my published work.

Thank you so much for taking time out to read this.  I look forward to sharing my work with you.

With deepest gratitude
