On the 23rd November 2018 in the State of Oregon A red Nissan Versa with 2 occupants were driving to the next stop on their tour across America.
At 19:00 the Police in Oregon had received a report of a white Toyota Corolla driving recklessly in Josephine County.
At 19:15 the Toyota Corola crossed the central reservation straight into the path of an oncoming vehicle..... A red Nissan Versa.
At roughly 19:30 on Highway 199 near Selma Oregon ..... my sister was being cut free from the twisted mangled wreckage that was pinning her limp body to the drivers seat of the Red Versa. Her passenger also had to be cut out of the wreckage. The driver of the White Corolla suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Elizabeth had lost consciousness during the impact and woke up in a hospital with multiple injuries and over the course of a week underwent no less than 12 major surgeries to her upper legs, lower legs, both feet, knee caps, clavicles and head.
Initially it was accepted that, although the injuries were extremely awful, Elizabeth would survive this accident and all was as well as could be expected.... or so we believed. A few days after the accident Elizabeth suffered an embolic stroke post surgery and lost the ability to speak and all motor functions in her hands.
It was at this point that my parents decided they needed to be at my sisters bedside as we feared the worst may be upon us.
Since my parents have arrived in the US it seems to have lifted my sisters spirits and her improvements may be slow...but they are improvements!
We now however find ourselves in a situation in which the daily costs are mounting up to an astronomical amount which my parents are struggling to afford. The insurance which should cover the healthcare costs will take time to come through and in the mean time my mother and father are having to cover all of their costs to be by the side of their daughter who was an innocent victim in all of this.
I don't normally stick my hand out to ask for anything but even i can't help my parents and my sister alone so i have reached out to my friends on Facebook and to anyone that may want to help in any shape or form.
Just sharing this post would be amazing .....please help!
The funds raised will go into an account which has been set up by my mother Alex Howell which will then be used to cover any out of pocket expenses which have been incurred over the last few weeks. It is also there to assist with my sister's rehabilitation, healthcare needs and also as a way of softening the blow for loss of earnings as she will be unable to work for quite some time.
The fund will also be used to cover any unforseen eventualities which may occur in the coming weeks or months eg additional legal costs.
