The Georgia Park Rebuild

$2,987 of $7,000 goal

Raised by 56 people in 20 days
Last night in Salem, a fire ravaged the home of writer, poet, and beautiful soul, Georgia Park. She and her little dog made it out and are healthy and well but her home has been destroyed and along with that so has the majority of her belongings.

Without clothes, food, or any of her precious memories, Georgia has relocated into a hotel room for the short-term but is unaware of how long she will be able to stay there.

The apartment where she was living is now condemned and we are unaware of how long the cleanup and rebuild will take. In the meantime, Georgia still needs to go to work and to class and the option of moving in with family hours away will surely jeopardize not only her employment but also her education.

I am asking you to look into your hearts and dig into your wallets to help this artist gather the funds for temporary housing and to replace anything she needs in the time being. She has lost everything to this fire and I'd like to see the generosity of good people help her get back on her feet.

An Update from Georgia:

Our Georgia and her dog, Grendel, are returning to normalcy and thriving in their temporary housing. Georgia is thrilled to report that she has access to a bathtub and has been using lavender and bubble bath to start unwinding. Grendel is thrilled to report that they are right next to a nature trail and plan on using it! They will continue their search for permanent housing and are feeling incredibly grateful and optimistic. Thank you all for reaching out to lend a helping hand to our friends in their time of need. Georgia has asked me to close this GoFundMe as soon as she can figure out how to get access to it to thank you all individually since your support has meant so much to her.

Georgia has asked me to post a thank you and she is looking forward to thanking you all individually. She and her dog are leaving the hotel tomorrow and transitioning to temporary, emergency housing at her university until 12/20. She will continue her search for permanent housing. Any housing leads are greatly appreciated. Thank you for making this hard time easier for our friend.

Hello everyone, thank you all so much for your generous donations and kind words to Georgia, she is grateful and thanks you all.

After speaking with GoFundMe, I just wanted to update you and let you know what's going on with the funds you have so kindly donated to Georgia.

Because I am in Canada, and the organizer of this GoFundMe, and Georgia is a US resident without a Canadian bank account, I have to withdraw the funds into my bank account and then wire the money to Georgia's US bank account. Unfortunately this process will take a few days, but being that we're in different countries, GFM has stated that this is the best way to get the money to her.

So again, I want to thank you all and I will post another update tomorrow with a message from Georgia.

All the best to you

Nicole
