The Fight of Rhiana's Life

Never did I think I'd be writing a GoFundMe about somebody my own age having Cancer. Obviously, I know it happens, but you always assume it's not going to happen to somebody in your life. Unfortunately, someone very dear to me has now been diagnosed with MPNST, occurring on her trigeminal & optic nerves. To put this simply, she has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that sits on her optic nerve and the stem of her brain. The cancer is malignant, and she is terminal.

Unfortunately, this diagnosis has come late. Diagnois has taken two years. Rhiana was originally prescribed steroids to battle what they first thought she had. It appears the steroids have assisted in the growth of the tumour. The doctors in Perth have told her they will be unable to operate due to the rarity of the tumour and the risk factors involved.

She suffers with extreme pain, blurred vision, numbness in her face and is often too unwell to get out of her bed. Throughout the repeated tests and incorrect diagnosis/treatment over the past two years, this tragic news (which would bring most to their knees) has not dulled her ever present sparkle. Rhiana is full of positivity and strength at the start of what truly is the fight of her life. She refuses to give up on life and is instead doing everything within her power to change her fate.

There is a glimmer of hope in the form of a qualified and reputable neurosurgeon in Sydney who has the skill set, ability and confidence to operate on Rhiana's tumour. His name is Dr. Charlie Teo.

Dr Charlie Teo has a highly regarded international reputation in the treatment of adult and paediatric brain tumors, skull base surgery, neuroendoscopy, and functional neurosurgery. He could very well be Rhiana's last and only hope for a cure. Of course this chance and Dr Teo's level of expertise doesn't come without a hefty price tag. Rhiana will need approximately $100K to pay for the surgery and after care. Due to Rhiana's deteriorating health she has been unable to work which leaves her options and monetary needs unable to be met.

I'm starting this GoFundMe campaign in hopes that we can help ease the financial burden of these tough times. Rhiana and her family are determined to pull through the other side of this. I am hopeful that we can raise even the smallest amount of money to help the family.

The funds will be used to pay for the surgery over in Sydney, and will be transferred directly into Rhiana's bank to ensure she has rapid access to the money.

Rhiana loves everyone around her dearly, and puts out positivity to everybody who is touched by her. Hopefully we can pass on our positivity to keep her going through this gruelling fight.

Any messages of support would be GREATLY appreciated. If you can't donate, simply pass on a message here, or via myself or Brie, and we will ensure it is passed on to her as quickly as possible.

Merry Christmas to all of you! I'm just updating you all with some amazing news.

Rhiana was able to spend Christmas outside of the hospital. She is out, and staying very close to the hospital at Dr. Teo's orders.

Rhiana got Meningitis after her surgery, but that now seems to have died down. Amazing.

This truly is a Christmas miracle.

Everybody is completely shocked by the recovery Rhiana has made thus far.

She's not out of the woods yet, but wow, she's a long way through.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank every single one of you for the donations again. This miracle would not have happened without every single one of you.

You are all amazing.

Hope you are having a safe and fantastic Christmas break, and enjoying every possible moment with the ones you love.

Thank you.

To the supporters of this cause, I have some amazing news.

Rhiana has had her surgery, and is alive and stable!

Dr. Teo has done an amazing job, and as far as I am aware, he has managed to remove all of the cancer.

She is currently in intensive care, and in an immense amount of pain. In true Rhiana style, she has fought all the way and is doing everything in her power to kick cancer's butt!

I have only received small amounts of information from her mum, and I will update everybody further when I have spoken to her directly.

To the amazing donors from all around the world reading this update, I hope you feel proud. You have helped an amazing woman live to fight another day. Obviously, there's still a long way to go, but without you, she wouldn't have made it to this very point right now.

Thank you for being amazing and allowing Rhiana to continue to bless the world around her with her presence.

She and her family are beyond grateful for every single one of you.
