Our Goal
Raise $3000 to send a group of amazing high school students on their first international immersion trip.
Who Should Donate?
Everyone! Have you ever travelled to another country? Did you have a life changing study abroad experience? Do you remember the thrill of your first plane ride? Do you love learning about other cultures? And, as our world feels so divided, do you believe in the power of cross cultural experiences? If so, read on!
For the past 15 years, The Collaborative has partnered with The Experiment in International Living (EIL), a summer study abroad program that offers a wide variety of cross cultural experiences. The programs are centered on visual arts, the environment, peace, politics & human rights, sustainability & food systems and cultural discovery and take place in over 20 countries. The trips are designed to have students connect deeply with one another while engaging in meaningful language study, regional exploration and community service. Students even get to live with local families to further expose them to the richness and complexities of other communities and cultures. Trips range from 3 - 5 weeks and cost $6,000-8,000 per student.
Thanks to The Collab's intense support to students throughout the entire application and interview process, all summer 2018 participants will receive a partial scholarship. The Collab must now raise $500 per student.
In addition, each student's family is responsible for providing personal spending money, local travel to airports and passport applications. This proves challenging for many of the families. We hope to support our students' families so that their current financial situations do not impact a student's ability to participate.
Each year, students come away from this experience with invaluable new skills, global awareness, and memories that will last them a lifetime. For many of the students, this trip is a rare and treasured opportunity. Please help us provide this unique enriching opportunity for the Collab students!!
