The “Líng Bǎo Tōng Zhìnéng Nèigōng Shù” is affectionately known as the Blue Book. Within it are two parts (Part 1: Classical Texts and Part 2: the practices and theory of the system)

My first retreat was in Dalian 2010 which is when I received this manual.  Since that time I have been working on translating Part 2 as a personal project but more seriously in the last few years.  I  just wanted to know what was directly inside this book and learn some Chinese in the meantime. So I started small and eventually it grew into a translation with over 200,000 Chinese Characters.

Through a series of funny circumstances Master Wang found out about my work and gave his permission during the 2016 Hawaii retreat for my translation to be published for the benefit of english speaking students.

In total it will have over 500 pages of instructions and theory on all the practices we have learned and others we have not been introduced to yet. It is written in a clear and concise format that will be easy to follow although the information is dense and not a light read. Consider this your textbook! In fact it will look like a textbook in that it will be a hardcover bound book with color pictures. Hopefully the final product will be a work of art.

I am asking for students to pre-purchase a book in order to help fund the future costs which are the proof reader (Livia Kohn!), editor and other publishing costs yet to be incurred.

I anticipate this book being ready no later than August 2018.

For all those who help out you will be the first to receive a book!

Please contribute the following:

$110 - USA based students (includes shipping)
$135 - International students (includes shipping)

Best wishes to you all,

Mark

4. Mark might consider sending us some of his translated text for some of us for proof reading. The reason is some of the potential readers have practiced at least some of the material. Answer: Thank you for the offer of proof reading. I wholeheartedly believe that Ms Livia Kohn will proofread and edit this translation faithfully. That being said I am considering releasing a limited edition that has both the Chinese and English for those that wish to work in both languages.

3. Does Mark’s source text completely expose Yin Xian Fa and its 12 techniques including a stopping the thoughts technique? Richard Liao translation (Chapter I: Yin Xian Fa) does not include a stopping the thoughts technique. In fact, Richard Liao translation just says, “let the thoughts go”, in the first Yin Xian Fa technique on collecting the mind (page 83 of Opening The Dragon Gate Book (OTDG) (Master Wang bio, see Amazon, where only the title of the first technique is given, not the text of the technique). A stopping the thoughts technique is given on page 22 (close to top) of OTDG book. Answer: The complete chapter on Yin Xian Fa (Techniques that Lead to Immortality) has been translated. In the current format, which is for proof reading, both the Chinese and English are over 100 pages long. More specifically 40,000 Chinese characters have been translated in this one chapter. There is a lot of information for you to chew on.

2. Would Mark be able/willing to let us know if Richard Liao translation into English from Chinese uses the same source text as does Mark? Answer: I cannot comment on Richard’s translation but it is my understanding that this is the same text. He has included in his translation a number of the classical texts from Part 1 which may not be available in this publication.

1. Is there a relationship between the source Chinese text for the Mark’s translation and Master Wang text on Dragon Gate that Master Wang has written in Mandarin? My understanding is that Master Wang book is at least in its 3rd edition and is about 880 pages of mandarin. I may be wrong about some of these details, please correct, if so. Answer: It is the same manual. You are correct in that the most current edition of the “Blue Book” has over 852 pages. The edition I started and finished translating was an earlier edition with a total of 600 pages. Out of which I have only translated Part 2 – Theory and Practice which are over 400 pages of the manual. It is my intention to update this translation over the next few years with the newest edition.
