Building the ANZAC Memorial documentary
Friends of ANZAC Cottage is raising money for a feature length documentary which will show the stories of some brave men and women who fought in World War I. Some of these men voluntarily built the ANZAC Cottage in one day in February 1916 in Perth, Western Australia. We find out why they left for war after building it. In hindsight some were building their own memorial.
ANZAC Cottage is a practical memorial that was built as a home for a wounded soldier and his family and as a memorial to those who lost their lives at Gallipoli. It is now a museum that honours veterans from all wars and tells the remarkable story of the cottage’s origins and subsequent history.
Built entirely by the community the cottage has on display photographs, documents and memorabilia commemorating the men and women who served our great country.
The documentary will be about saving the memories of some of those involved and sharing their stories. It will be an everlasting window into the past for our future generations to remember.
