Walking For The Animal Collective

Donation protected
In April 2019 I begin my 135km journey along The Saint Francis Way, Italy. From Assisi through the Valle Umbra, across mountains to castles and monasteries, through sacred woods into Rieti with some difficult days hiking up 1087m above sea level.  It is the first time I have done anything like this! There will be some difficult days of elevation. Even though The St Francis Way is an official pilgrim path, it is the quietest of all the Caminos which is why I chose it. I am sure I will make friends along the way.

The hike will take me to the following places...
From Assisi - 20km to Foligno - 20km to Campello sul Clitunno - 12km to Spoleto - 16km to Ceselli - 15km to Arrone - 13km Piediluco - 22km to Poggio Bustone - 17km to Rieti

The Way Of St Francis - From Assisi to Reiti

I really need your support to get me up the mountains, to keep me going when I am exhausted and thinking "Why the hell did I decide to do this!" I want to help raise as much as I can for 'The Animal Collective' which is a new, local,  Not For Profit Association already doing great work which has really touched me. Whilst I am a part of this association, amongst some of the most kindhearted, selfless people, I am yet to be of any use... so this is my way of helping, and making a difference.

With your support we can not help so many beautiful little lives, but also help to educate about local environment. St. Francis of Assisi whose path I am walking is The patron saint for ecologists — a title honouring his boundless love for animals and nature - How fitting!

Who Is - THE ANIMAL COLLECTIVE ?
We are a non-Profit Association! CIF: G72370067
The main objectives of The Animal Collective are:
Educate and raise awareness about animals and the environment .
Reduce and with time eradicate the “Abandonment and animal abuse in the Campo de Gibraltar”

Through our non-profit association we will organise events and activities to raise money and much needed products for the shelters and other associations that work towards the protection and defence of the flora and fauna in the Campo de Gibraltar.

The association is a tool to plan and organise financial and personnel support through associates and volunteers for animal shelters and environmental associations. This includes working together with people with additional needs, the elderly and young people with the aim to create a symbiotic partnership in which every party benefits.

Further, shelter dogs will be trained to take part in playful and educational activities, in which people and dogs interact and in which the responsible adoption of animals and respect towards people, animals and the environment is mainly promoted.

Over time, the association hopes to carry out Assisted Therapies with Dogs (TAP) with professionally trained dogs for people with certain ailments and who would benefit from such an intervention.
