We are raising money for the last leg of our Tarot collaboration, The American Renaissance Tarot.
Thea Wirsching, PhD conceived this American literary Tarot based on her academic research, and the artist Celeste Pille is illustrating it. We are 3/4 of the way through this exciting project and are running on fumes trying to finish it. We need your help to offset the cost of the artist's fee.
We will keep our campaign open through the last day of 2018, which is the projected date for completing this Tarot deck.
Your donation will contribute to the creation of one of the only Tarot decks to feature American themes exclusively. The American Renaissance Tarot is a celebration of diversity in our nation's history. The Major Arcana tell the interrelated stories of the rise of Transcendentalism and the abolition of slavery. Ralph Waldo Emerson is the Magician, Emily Dickinson is the High Priestess, Henry David Thoreau is the Hermit, Abraham Lincoln is Judgment, and Walt Whitman is the World. The Swords feature the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe, while the Wands depict key scenes from Moby-Dick and other works by Herman Melville. The Cups are given to Nathaniel Hawthorne and Harriet Beecher Stowe, while the Coins draw from African-American writers like Frederick Douglass.

Our ultimate goal is to publish the project, which will include a book by Thea Wirsching detailing how each of the literary figures or scenes reflects a Tarot archetype. Read sample chapters on our blog.
