Thanks To The Music We Are All One!

$4,511 of $2,000 goal

Raised by 244 people in 27 days
The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds for the purchase of musical instruments and new technologies applied to the development of the cognitive system of people with disabilities.

This gift is in honour to BTS Yoongi

Human beings are by nature musical creatures. Along with touch, the ear is the first sensory system to develop within the maternal womb, only at 16 weeks after conception.

Researchers from McGill University, in Montreal, Canada, carried out an unprecedented study where they gathered the strongest evidence about the therapeutic potential of music and music therapy.
A set of 400 scientific articles that were published in recent years was compiled from accredited testimonies and was published in the magazine "Trends in Cognitive Science". But even more important, the Canadian researchers managed to document the neurochemical mechanisms from which music develops a positive effect in four areas: the management of the state of mind, stress, immunity and as an aid for social bonding.

In the Playing For Change Patagonia school, working in a multidisciplinary team we experience that music, contact with nature and technology generate powerful changes in people with disabilities and we use these tools to generate conditions that allow a better social and labor inclusion .

Our school is located in a Natural Protected Area called Paso Cordova, millenary land where large herds of dinosaurs lived.

In this space  we have built a music therapy and soundhealing room in a circular way with natural materials (mud, stone and wood) that favors the internal and external work we do with the students.

The money raised will be used to equip this system with surround sound systems (3D and 360 °) lighting systems for chromotherapy, vaporization systems for aromatherapy and digital and analogue musical instruments, feasible to interact with each other and also through sensors with plants and the surrounding natural environment.

Equipment needs.
Surround sound equipment U $ S 1.000
Raspberry plates, sensors, led lights and robotic accessories U $ S 3.000
Quartz / gong bowls U $ S 3.000
Tibetan bowls $ U $ S1,000
HandPan U $ S 3.000

The campaign will finish by the end of March

The General Assembly of the United Nations decides to designate March 21 World Down Syndrome Day, which will be observed every year starting in 2012.

With this celebration, the General Assembly wants to increase public awareness of the issue and remember the inherent dignity, worth and valuable contributions of people with intellectual disabilities as promoters of the well-being and diversity of their communities. He also wants to highlight the importance of his autonomy and individual independence, in particular the freedom to make his own decisions.
At Playing For Change we are preparing to celebrate that day by dancing with BTS music in Honor to Yoongi!

This week we had a special meeting at PFC Patagonia where we shared with the students and friends of the Music & Disability workshop, the aspects of the campaign that One In An ARMY is doing for the school in Honor of BTS Yoongi.
As many of them did not know the band we put some videos and this was something of what happened when Cecilia told us that she wanted to dance the BTS music!
