Hello,

I am an Australian teacher, living in the south of Thailand. My mission here is to rescue, adopt, sterilize, treat and love as many street dogs as possible.

GoFundMe donations will go towards daily expenses to keep Thai Street Paws running. For items such as rice, produce and meat used to prepare food for shelter dogs as well as street dogs; medication to prevent blood parasite, tick/flea preventative, antibiotics, heartworm preventative, foster home expenses, sterilisations and much more.

The greatest obstacle I face right now is not owning a car. Having a reliable vehicle is critical to buying food and supplies, daily feeding and the transportation of dogs for veterinary care. In the end, I have realized that without a car, I am of little or no help to the dogs I've been working so hard to help for so long. By helping me to purchase a secondhand vehicle to use for my rescue activities, you would be contributing directly to ensuring these animals are fed and cared for.

My future goal, if funds allow, is to create a basic space to use as a clinic where dogs can be sterilized, recover and then released or placed in foster care to await their forever home. Sterilization is a huge expense in my budget, but necessary to stop the cycle of street dog reproduction. Having a basic clinic where sterilizations could be done locally would make a huge impact in the work I do and the future of Songkhla

street dogs.

Please note that my sister Nadia Johnston is attached to my gofundme, as she resides in the USA and the funds are sent to me via her.

Thank you for caring!
Tamara J.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support, it means so much to me and is certainly needed right now. Things are pretty bad right now. Please seriously consider setting up a monthly donation or one off donation for our dogs. The bad exchange rate, things keep breaking and need to be replaced, 3 dogs in board and train facility and an increase in dogs needing medication and special canned diets is killing our budget! Someone tried to give us 4 more dogs today, but we simply can't afford to help any more at the moment!

We really need your help. Please help us to help them. Every dollar counts and means so much to us. Please share my posts, facebook page and Instagram account with family and friends. Thank you so much for your amazing support xx

P.S. The 4 basket pups are doing very well and enjoying their new life. This week I will give them their first vaccinations x

Remember Harper?

The scared boy that nobody wanted and nobody could even touch he was so aggressive. Well yet again, the phenomenal team at ศูนย์ฝึกสุนัขครูโหน่ง K9 have worked their magic. Look at our clever boy Harper now! Thank you so much ❤️

I am sitting here watching this video over and over, with tears running down my face, it is truly amazing. We hope to find a local adopter for Harper, so they can continue the training at the training centre.

Please help us with the training and boarding costs for Harper. His monthly fee of 5000 baht / $160 USD / $225 AUD is due now and any help would be greatly appreciated. Much love xx

It has been a whirlwind few weeks. I have continued to struggle with the unexpected passing of Georgia and tried to keep busy, but it has been difficult. I miss my girl so very much. We had a massive storm sweep through our area after Christmas and thankfully the direction changed last minute. I am also thankful to so many amazing volunteers that worked basically 24/7 for 3 days to keep the dogs safe. We ensured all dogs were inside just in case. We were lucky to escape with just some flooding, 2 fences blown down, a pop up tent destroyed and some netting. Very lucky indeed.

Lots of work has been happening at the shelter with Georgia's playgrounds, new dog runs, doors and windows installed on our quarantine room and lots of gardening. It seems like it is never ending and constantly spending money on things. The days are crazy busy and currently needing to employ 2 local staff and rely less on volunteers.

Currently we care for 102 dogs and 2 cats. Three dogs are at a training facility for aggression issues, which costs 5000 baht ($160 USD) per dog per month. Four of our dogs are on special canned diets for renal disease and digestive issues. For these 4 dogs alone, the food costs are 13 200 baht ($420 USD) per month. That does not include their special medications.

Our monthly expenses are rising and the exchange rate is at the lowest it has ever been. It is scary to think how we will keep going, so please spread the word with family and friends.

As some of you know, on the 7th January I was the proud new owner of 4 new puppies. This is what happened.

As I got out of my car today to feed some of my street dogs, someone yelled out “You, you, you!” Such a lovely greeting when you want something from someone! This kind person proceeded to tell me I had to take 4 puppies or he would dump them somewhere else and didn’t care if they died. I was beyond angry.
This guy brought the puppies from another town to give to me because his girlfriend didn’t want them. Now he tried to tell me there was no mother or father. Of course these pups had a mother. They are healthy looking and scared our of their minds. Why? Because they were taken away from their mother. I am sure the mother is still out there and sure enough, she will be pregnant again with more puppies. I told him to sterilize the mother! The guy wanting to give me the dogs, was sitting there dripping in gold rings and necklaces. I told him I care for 100 dogs and could he help with costs. He laughed at me! The 4 puppies are safe tonight. As I was taking them to the car, he yelled out to me again, telling me to make sure I return his basket the puppies were in. I told him yes for 2000 baht! I am tired, angry and broke. There is this massive belief that I have lots of money, have more than 24 hours in a day and endless helpers to care for all the dogs. Anyone want to help with the costs of these little ones please. We are struggling as it is, but I couldn’t leave these pups to die. I need to find them homes as soon as possible, but now need to feed and treat them.

I was so thankful that The Dodo reached out to me and did a story. I am also thankful that so many amazing people took the time to reach out to me and also donate, this means so much. The pups are safe at the sanctuary in quarantine. They are loved, have good food, a new outdoor puppy playpen, have all been treated for worms, ticks and fleas. Within the next few days, I will give each of them their first vaccination.

This year I am on a mission to try and adopt as many of my dogs as possible and focus on spaying and neutering street dogs. If you have any frequent flyer miles you might like to donate, they would be a wonderful help in flying dogs to the USA.

Please share my gofundme page, facebook page, Instagram account and spread the word. These dogs need our help and I can't do this without you all. It takes a village and I am so very thankful to each and every one of you for your generosity. Much love from all of us and THANK YOU xx

I am so terribly sorry for no updates in almost a month. Unfortunately on the 3 December, I lost my darling girl Georgia. My heart is still broken and I am struggling every day without her. It all happened so quickly, within a matter of hours. I still can't bring myself to write about what happened. Thank you to those who helped towards her medical bills, we tried so hard to bring her home. At the sanctuary, I will dedicate some new play areas and a sterile clinic in Georgia's honor. I still can't believe she is gone.

Lots has been happening at the sanctuary. We have had so many volunteers so eager to work and make it a better place for the dogs. A puppy run and another small dog run has just been completed. Over the Christmas period I will focus on Georgia's playgrounds, while some keen volunteers hope to build a new run around our existing shipping container.

We also have some dogs needing to get to LA in the new year. Maybe you have airline miles you aren't using that you would like to donate to us and help get dogs to their forever homes! If you would like to donate miles, please contact me.

Thanks for your support and I am sure you are all busy preparing for the Christmas season. Much love xx
