
Hua Hin & Phuket Bombing Support
What happened?
One Thai woman was killed and altogether from the two bombs 19 people were injured.
Three are in a serious condition and seven of the injured are foreigners, totalling four women and three men.
Why?
On Wednesday night junta chief and prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, part of the military government, took credit for bringing stability back to Thailand after an extended period of unrest. This is possible effort to embarrass the military government that took power two years ago.
When and Where?
The incident took place on the eve of the birthday of Queen Sirikit in both Loma, Phuket in the southern western region where the King Bhumibol Adulyadej maintains a summer palace.
The ruling junta has declared that defending the monarchy is its priority, especially as there is serious concern over the recently ailing 88-year-old king who is the world’s longest reigning monarch and has significant respect in Thailand.
