Putting Technology In Little Hands
Donation protected
We are 2 teachers, in a Title 1 school, situated in the heart of the city of North Miami, in a culturally diverse school, in a double classroom that ranges from 36-44 second graders, trying to expose our students to as much as possible. Although we are fortunate to have some computers in our classroom, they only work intermittently; therefore we are desperately trying to get tablets in the hands of each of our students. By doing so, we hope to meet all of their educational needs in this technologically advanced society that they are growing up in. Being a Title 1 school means that 75% or more of our students are on "free or reduced lunch" and many come from homes where they are not able to enjoy much above and beyond the basic daily needs. When they come here to us, we want to give them all we can to ensure they will leave our classroom enriched with knowledge, understanding and are completely comfortable and ready to move forward in school. Using tablets as a form of support to our teaching as well as our reading & learning centers, will help guarantee each child will be successful and make learning gains. It will also boost interest in reading for children who may have very little early reading background or who may not have had a positive experience reading.
