Carey started out 2015 going to doctor appointments to investigate what she and her doctors thought was a benign tumor in her right breast.  

On January 28th, 2015, the tumor was removed but cancer was found when the 2.6 cm tumor was removed and biopsied.  On February 5, Carey was informed that the cancer was found and the journey began to fight against figuring out what we had and what needed to be done ASAP to move on...

After an MRI, a couple more Ultrasounds and another biopsy, cancer was also found in the other breast as well.  
After getting this information, Carey was also told a week later that she tested positive for the BRCA1 mutated gene.  5-10% of all breast cancers are a result of this mutated gene.

After seeing doctors every week of this year, Carey has found herself maxed out on her out of pocket expenses in a very short time span.   As Carey continues to go down the path to become Cancer free, surgeries and additional treatments continue to add up.

The not so great news is that with the first surgery, lumpectomy, along with multiple tests, she has reached her max and has a lot of out of pocket expenses in a very short amount of time.  

For those of you who have offered your help and are looking for a way to help Carey, this would make a huge difference to her as she recovers from the bilateral mastectomy that was on April 13th.
