Save Zorro

If you've met Zorro I'm sure you remember him as a bumbling joyful dog with a nose for trouble and a heart of gold. Well Zorro has a very serious genetic condition called epilepsy. It is a condition that causes the neurons in his brain to miss-fire sending him into violent seizures. It is common for his breed to have these seizures but Zorro's are worse than expected, sometimes causing his brain to swell. All of the treatment we have tried this far has failed. They usually come in clusters, starting small and escalating to the point where he has to be taken to the ER and sedated. After a few severe episodes we rushed him to the ER, they couldn't really do much, then to the vet where they referred us to an on-call veterinary neurologist. There we were informed that he would need testing done in order to figure out what the cause of the seizures could be and if they are being triggured by something. The cost alone to keep him sedated and to try and fight this initial cluster of seizures was quoted at $1500 alone. Then the testing, and after that the treatment of whatever it is that is causing them was quoted to be around $5000. At this point I spent every last penny I have at the ER and vet, so my hands are tied and I feel helpless. I never thought I would resort to this but under the circumstances, if he does not get the treatment he needs he will either die or suffer severe brain damage and live a very painful life. If you can find it in your heart to help me here I would be forever in your debt. I just want to stop the suffering. It's painful to watch. Contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you.
