Team Tammy's Cancer Fight

I am going to tell you a little something about my amazing friend Tammy as she prepares to battle cancer for the second time.  These are things that Tammy won't tell you about herself or her battle.  You see, Tammy won't ask for help, she does not want sympathy and she loathes pity.   I think there is a big difference between pity and compassion though.  So I am taking it upon myself to start this campaign to help someone that will not answer you when you ask her: "What can I do?"

I am going to tell you a little bit of what you can do and why: When someone gets cancer their whole family gets cancer.  It does not just affect the person that receives the diagnosis.  When a beautiful, vibrant, young wife and mother is diagnosed with cancer for the second time it does not just affect her, it affects her husband and her 13 year old daughter.   Do you know that each time Tammy has a doctor's appointment she has out of pocket expenses?  Each blood test?  Each PET scan, CT scan, MRI?  Oh but that is what insurance is for, no insurance covers a fraction of the cost to fight cancer and win.  

Did I mention that when Tammy's treatments start that they will make her sick?  Her ability to work?  Unknown, thankfully she has a great boss, but lossed time from work is always a concern for cancer patients.  When you have spent your energy at a treatment, the last thing you can even begin to think about it preparing a meal for your family; yet they still need to eat.  Yes, cancer affects more than just the person that receives the diagnosis and receives the treatment.
