On June 12th, 2016, we received news that would bring new excitement to our lives. We were EXPECTING our first child! We both cried with the news, as we had already experienced a miscarriage on Easter Sunday. 2017 was going to be the year that would forever change our lives.

Since late November 2016, doctors have been trying to determine the cause of my low hemoglobin level. They thought it was anemia in pregnancy, so I was prescribed 5 rounds of iron infusions and had multiple tests completed.

On the morning of January 13th, I woke up throwing up blood and was taken to the emergency room. I was 34 weeks pregnant at this time. Once admitted, doctors tested my hemoglobin and found that it dropped to a critical level, so a blood transfusion was immediately started.

Once I was stabilized, the doctors proceeded to check on our baby. They tried for an hour to find a heartbeat, but were not able to find one. On January 14th, our son Finnick Ngoc Woll was born stillborn. He was perfect in every way and we're so thankful to have met him.

A few days later, I was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This was the cause of my low hemoglobin all these months. A tumor in my stomach had been slowly bleeding out for the last 6 to 9 months.

I have completed my radiation treatments and I am currently undergoing chemotherapy to treat the lymphoma. The last few weeks has truly humbled us. We're so thankful for all the love and kindness shared with us from our family, friends, nurses, doctors, and so many others. I've met so many incredible people and have never felt alone once in this entire journey.

We also take comfort knowing that in no way shape of form did the pregnancy affect or cause the lymphoma. They were simply two separate incidents, which just coincidentally happened at the same time.

We are raising money to honour our son's memory in the following ways:

1. We'd like to donate 3 Cuddle Cots by Flexmort to Trillium Health Partners, which will allow parents (if they choose) more time with their baby.

2. We'd like to fund 10 Look Good Feel Better workshops to help women facing cancer feel more like themselves.

3. We'd like to raise $20,000 and participate as a family to the OneWalk to Conquer Cancer this September. Funds raised will go towards cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Thank you in advance for all your love, prayers, and support. We hope parents and cancer patients can feel just as much hope as we do.

We’d like to thank all of you again for your extremely generous contributions and for opening your hearts to us. We are extremely humbled and blessed by your kindness. We look forward to sharing your gifts with the many who deserve it.

For me, being healed is more than just accepting the events of January 13th. There are three steps I’d have to complete.

STEP 1: Share My Story

This was difficult because I didn’t want anyone, aside from family, to see pictures of Finn or know about the cancer.

STEP 2: Campaign For Funds

This was difficult because I feel ashamed for having cancer and embarrassed asking for support.

STEP 3: Share Gifts Received

This is tough because I’ve met so many deserving people on this journey and many who’ve had an impact on us personally. I’m excited for each event, but I know it will be emotionally difficult.

Today, I can proudly say that I’ve completed the two most difficult steps thanks to all of you! You’ve added purpose and meaning to our story. Thank you again for all the kindness you’ve showered us with. We will NEVER forget the love we’ve received.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you again for your generosity to our causes and your love. Together, we will be able to make a MIGHTY difference and touch the hearts of many people.

Today, I'd like to share with you a glimpse of how your donation will make an impact through the Cuddle Cot.
In 2015 there were more 2.6 million stillbirths globally, with more than 7178 deaths per day. Last year, there were 3234 stillbirths in Canada. The night I delivered Finn, a little girl was also born into heaven next door.

By using the Cuddle Cot, parents (if they choose) can have more TIME with their baby and create everlasting memories.

I'm entirely speechless by your genuine kindness and generosity. I'm also humbled by your love and prayers for our family. Many of you don’t know me and many I’ve known for years. I wish there were deeper words than my sincerest thank you because again, thank you just doesn't seem like it's enough. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with me and with the people your contributions will touch.

From the moment I knew we were expecting, I’d pray every night that our baby would be able to make an impact in the world. When we lost him on January 13th, my heart was broken knowing that he wouldn’t have the opportunity to do what I prayed and hoped for so long. I realized yesterday that he HAS made an impact. The only difference is, he’s doing it through me.

Up until now, only a small select few knew our full story. I wasn’t sure if I wanted everyone to know about the cancer. It took me all day yesterday to write our story. Part of me felt anxious, nervous, scared, and ashamed all at the same time. For weeks I’ve been trying to hide the news about the cancer. When my hair started falling out, my biggest fear was that everyone would now know and the way they look at me would change. But, I quickly realized that if I was going to honour our son’s memory, I’d needed to share our story.

I’ve been researching and connecting with people on ways we could give back to honour Finn’s memory for weeks. And of course, one cause just didn’t seem enough. This journey has connected me with so many incredible people who truly deserve to feel hope and know that they too have people in their corner.

I’d like to share an update on my prognosis with you.

To date, I’ve completed 5 rounds of radiation, 2 rounds of chemotherapy, and have had a bone marrow biopsy done. My oncologist has forecasted between 6 and 8 chemotherapy treatments for my type of lymphoma. When he first examined me back on January 16th, he was able to clearly feel the tumor externally. With a thankful heart, I’m happy to share with you that he no longer can feel the tumor externally. Also, my bone marrow biopsy has come back completely clean and normal. My next chemo treatment is scheduled for March 22nd.

Looking back on my journey thus far, I’m humbled. The power of prayer is REAL. Compared to many in this satiation, I have the best of the worst and for that I’m truly grateful. I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel. I feel like I’m running towards the finish line in a marathon and you’re all giving “high fives” and raising “Team Loan” posters cheering me on.

Thank you again for your continual support, words of encouragement, and smiles :)
