Brianna Campbell's Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
On May 28, 2015, 33 year old Brianna Campbell’s strength was taken from her when she was brought to her knees and suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.

Just two weeks earlier, Brianna had given birth to her second child, Lillian Britt. Brianna, her husband Erik, and their two-year-old son Jordan, were soaking up every precious moment of their new life as a family of four
following Lily’s arrival. Yet in a matter of minutes, this young family’s joy morphed into immense pain as the rock of their tribe clung to life.

Known as “Nana” to those who cherish her, this woman is a role model, confidant, and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Her tenacity and sharp mind guided her on a path of excellence
through college and graduate school, with her doting husband supporting her every step along the way. In 2010, Nana fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian when she graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.  As a promising young vet now practicing in San Diego, Brianna is adored and admired by her coworkers and patients alike.

Since suffering this devastating injury, Brianna has been hospitalized as doctors struggle to manage her pain and control the bleeding in her brain. Each day presents new obstacles, demanding a renewed hope that she will
overcome this tragic illness. With her family by her side and countless prayers and good vibes being sent from all over the globe, we remain steadfast in our faith that Nana’s body and mind will heal completely over time.

Her absence from our everyday lives has left an unimaginable void. Erik has taken on the daunting responsibility of parenting a toddler and an infant
while financially supporting a household on his own. Nana’s small but resilient family have begun to settle into a routine reflecting their “new normal” – rotating shifts at the hospital; caring for Jordan, Lily and the
family pets; and attempting to reshuffle their financial and professional obligations in order to provide Brianna with the best medical care and companionship as she fights the most critical battle of her life.

Once her brain hemorrhage is controlled, Nana will be moved to an acute rehabilitation center where she will undergo intensive therapy to regain her mobility and vision. The stroke has left her paralyzed on the left side of her body, and diminished the vision in her left eye. In her current state, Brianna is unable to hold her babies or care for herself. Unless and until she regains the use of her left side, she will remain incapable of treating
animals at the veterinary clinic.

Although Nana and Erik are currently receiving a limited income through disability and family leave payments,
this will not sustain them throughout her long path to recovery. Insurance will only cover so much of extraordinary medical costs such as Life Flight, neurological specialists, and in-home care.

We have created this page to share updates on Brianna’s long road to recovery, and to help alleviate one of the only pains we can attempt to attack in this uncertain time – financial stability. We want Nana and her family to be able to fully dedicate their energy to her recovery, while putting their future financial stability at the back of their minds.

In light of mounting medical bills and a significant reduction in family income due to this medical emergency, we invite you to join us in donating to Nana’s recovery fund. As many know, this is a family that has faced unthinkable tragedies numerous times through the years, always exhibiting grace under pressure and emerging with an even stronger love for one another. From the untimely deaths of Erik’s father and brother, to the shocking loss of Brianna’s brother, and later the horrific and highly publicized deaths of Erik’s cousin and godson with kidnapping of his cousin, this family has never sought financial assistance from the outside.

As a generous couple who routinely supports others in their times of need, Erik and Brianna have humbly agreed to accept our assistance via this campaign.

Brianna’s family also welcomes each of you to leave a comment or advice; express your own feelings; or share pictures and memories that will help lift Nana’s spirits once she is well enough to view. Your prayers and positive energy will aid in the healing process. We would also be grateful if you would share this page with others.

This page will be monitored regularly with updates on Brianna’s recovery, so please check back often. On behalf of the Campbell and Jordan families, we thank you for your love and support of our beloved Nana!
