Team 1665 Weapons of Mass Construction is a robot team out of Hudson NY, we are a team of 12 students, 2 technology teachers(Jack Beyer&Bruce Buhler), 3 chaperones/mentors and one programmer from RPI. We competed at RPI on March 17th-March 19th 2016, we got there on Thursday and were practicing when all of a sudden our robot dropped and had some damage. We were non-functional for our first couple of matches. After long hard work we were finally able to get our robot to somewhat function to be able to participate in the qualifying matches. We started out of 36 teams at spot 30 by the time we finished the qualifying matches we were in slot 18. Although we didn't get picked to make it to the finals. We were the the next robot in line incase one broke. Well team 1665 was blessed and unfortunately for the other team their robot broke. We then were given the chance to jump in and make it into the finals. We finished 2nd in the whole regional. But the reason we are asking for donations is because we were then awarded with a wild card award which means that we have been selected to move on to the championship in St. Louis Missouri April 27-April 30. It's very expensive and we need all the community support to get our team there. The money will help pay for transportation, hotel fees, entry fees to the competition and freight shipping to get our robot to St.Louis. If you have any questions about what your donations are going towards I'd be happy to answer.  Any little donation helps. Please spread the word to help give these kids a once in a lifetime experience before most of our team graduates. Thank you in advance and please reach out if you have any questions. Also follow our journey on our team Facebook page.

Ellen I just reviewed the description it was suppose to be 3 not 4 but to explain, there are two Hudson technology teachers, 3 chaperones/mentors and our programmer from RPI. So the two teachers, programmer and at least one mentor are with the robot fixing issues and such. The other two chaperones watch the kids. Please let me know if I can answer anything else.

Hi my name is Kody and I am a Senior at the Hudson High School. This is also my 4th and final year on the robotics team and I am the driver of the robot. This my second year as driver, and 3rd year on the drive team. Robotics is a lot more than just attending some after school meetings and building a robot. It is more complex than that. The team has a 6 week deadline to build the robot. We also have to work with a very limited budget compared to other teams that are sponsored by GE and NASA so fundraising and go fund me help teams like Team 1665 offset our yearly costs. The entry fee to the Championship alone is $5000 that is why we are asking for $25,000. Myself and the team are very thankful for everyone who donated. Every donation helps and it all adds up. We're going to be leaving for St. Louis in a couple of weeks and we plan on bringing the Blue Hawk Pride to the World Championships and showing them what our small team is made of. Once again, a big thanks from Team 1665 Weapons of Mass Construction.

“If you think that you can be a superstar in sports or entertainment and make the really big bucks, imagine being a superstar in tech,” Dean Kamen says. “Most of the superstars in technology could buy the whole NBA or the whole NFL and have them play in their backyard whenever they found it amusing.”
