The ORGANISATION OF DEVELOPMENT ACTION AND MAINTENANCE (“ODAM”) works to address rural poverty, women’s empowerment, child welfare, climate change, human rights to education, health, and safety. Since 1996, ODAM’s female empowerment and rural development programs have improved the quality of life for thousands of women and their families in Tamil Nadu, India.
I have been volunteering with ODAM for the past 10 years and have seen the power of their work in their local communities in Tamil Nadu.
Through this campaign, my friends and I are hoping to raise enough money to support ODAM to purchase this scooter.
ODAM provide accomodation in the Barathi Girls Hostel for girls who have graduated primary school (mostly government funded) and want to attend secondary school (not government funded). These girls live in a safe and secure compound with a warden.
The scooter will assist the warden to attend to the daily needs of the hostel, but most importantly, it will provide emergency transport for the health and welfare needs of the girls.
