On the first night of Chanukah, the large menorah and the Holocaust Memorial in front of our Temple were desecrated and heavily damaged.

The Chanukah Menorah and the Holocaust Memorial which depicts the names of concentration camps were designed and built by one of our members 30+ years ago. Lighting the Chanukah Menorah is a tradition every year with the members of the Temple as well as all the children and the community. This will be the first time in many years we will not be able to light our beloved Chanukah Menorah.

We need your help to repair these iconic symbols of our heritage. Our small congregation is devastated by this terrible act; and we will stand vigilant and we will not let hate win.

We notified the Maricopa County Sheriff, Congressman Trent Franks as well as Senators McCain and Flake. Television news and print media will soon cover this incident.   (  http://www.12news.com/news/local/valley/jewish-temple-vandalized-during-hanukkah/378573645 )

We are going to reassure our children and the community that we are doing everything in our power to protect their safety and the sanctity of their Temple. Like the Maccabees of old, we too must clean and rededicate our Temple.

We will keep you informed of the results of the investigation and prosecution of the perpetrator(s) of this hate crime.

Thank you in advance

Happy Hanukkah Everyone!

All of us at Temple Beth Shalom are overwhelmed with thanks and so much support from everyone. The support we are getting from all over is just absolutely heartwarming.

On Tuesday, we held a special Hanukkah service and had many people from around the community show up to support us. We had people from all kinds of different faiths show up. It was a warm, kind, and loving service.

So from All of us at Temple Beth Shalom, Thank You for your support!

We wish everyone a Happy Hanukkah and a Wonderful New Year!
