The demons of mental illness have stolen something precious from us all, the life of my son Jacob Guyon. Jake was a writer, musician, artist, a dear son and brother, and devoted partner to April Jipson.

 

 

 

Jake was always the one you could count on to stand up to injustice. He was a devoted member of the punk rock community, howling at oppression in its myriad forms. He was the man you wanted at your back when life hammered you down. But he was also kindhearted, picture a guy in street punk clothes with a big multi-colored mohawk holding the door for a stranger to walk through. I find the world a darker place without his megawatt smile to light up the room.

 

 

 

Jake’s funeral is tomorrow (Sat Apr 2, at 6-8pm) at Myer’s mortuary in Ogden, Utah, at 845 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers or well wishes, I ask that you donate to the gofundme I’m creating for his partner April. She is facing a tough challenge in the months ahead, and we could use all the help we can get.
