TASSO's Australian Trip
The orchestra’s members, age ten to twenty, have blossomed into a stage-shaking, soul-stirring musical force to be reckoned with.
Since the beginning of this year our orchestra has ramped up its practice and preparation for our 2017 Australian trip. Our biggest expense is the transport of our instruments, consisting of 65 pieces. The steelpan Orchestra presents a unique challenge with its pans, drums, stands and supporting musical equipment, that cost $15,000 to transport.
In the best-case scenario, we are hoping to reach our goal by the end of June. In anticipation, we welcome any donation because no donation is too small to help us reach our goal.
TASSO is asking for support to help the orchestra achieve its dream of competing in the upcoming Australian International Music Festival in summer 2017.
These needed funds will help transport the orchestra's instruments from Toronto, Canada all the way to Sydney, Australia.
If we can cover the cost of the transport of the instruments any leftover funds will be used to help subsidize the cost of the trip for members of the Orchestra.
We appreciate your generosity and your belief in us as we continue to showcase the artistry of the steelpan, the only musical instrument to be invented in the twentieth century, to the rest of the world.
