What is it about a photo that makes us stop, think and feel? How can just one picture represent an entire evening, an array of songs, stories or even a sold out stadium?
Hi, I’m Tashi Hall. I’m a self taught and self funded musician, music teacher, filmmaker and photographer based in Fremantle, WA.
After many years of passion for makeshift photoshoots, I decided to buy a professional camera. And in 2015, already quite heavily involved in the Perth music scene, it became second nature to me to start taking this camera to gigs to photograph friend's bands.
Since then I’ve persevered and am now photographing some of the world’s most famous musicians such as Grammy award winning Florence and The Machine, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Troye Sivan, Passenger, Tame Impala, Matt Corby and Angus and Julia Stone. The list goes on!
No matter my subject, I aim to capture raw, colourful, intimate moments. Striving to connect the audience to the photograph with an emotional engagement from both sides. I view photography as a pathway to understanding an artist’s inner passion and character, relating photograph to feeling.
I’m very and humbled and excited to have been offered a solo photography exhibition at Mills Records in Fremantle, WA for two weeks in July.
Taking of photos of musicians is a massive honour and privilege to me, but even as an official photographer, every single photo that I’ll be exhibiting I was not paid to take and many times was left out of pocket.
Putting on this event I’m hoping to cover my costs of the prints by friends like you helping me out with a donation. Any amount is appreciated!
The exhibition will run from will run the 13th till the 27th of July. I'll be exhibiting pieces that resonate most with me and would love see you at the launch night on Thursday the 13th from 6.30pm!
