Tanzania Field Experience- educational enrichment trip
What is it?
The Tanzania Ecology Summer Field Course is an elective science course offered through the OPRF Science Department. Through completion of the program I will earn a year's worth of science elective credit. In order to meet the requirements for the program the group will meet once a week for an hour and a half during the second semester of the 2014-2015 school year. Then during late July/early August in 2015 we'll travel for 12 days to Tanzania, Africa. During the first four days in Tanzania we will work side by side with high school students from Tanzania and complete conservation and service projects that promote sustainability. These projects are run by the Roots and Shoots organization. During the last four days in Tanzania we will then embark on safaris in the Nogorogoro Crater and the Serengeti. During the safari we will see lions, zebras, wildebeests, elephants, gazelles, giraffes, ostriches, cheetahs, leopards, etc. All in all, the Tanzania Field Course will offer me a once in a lifetime experience in which I will actively be involved in conservations efforts on the other side of the world!
What does the money go towards?
-Travel expenses
-all meals
-all lodging
-all ground transfers
-travel insurance
-textbooks
-curriculum and service project materials
Why should I pay for another person's trip?
The smallest donation is enough. Attending this trip will give me 2 science credits. We will be doing a ton of volunteer work so helping me raise money is helping some of the children in Tanzania. Also, this trip will look great on college applications.
