Stolen Valuables in Toronto, Canada

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Takuya Ogino.

I am a Japanese English teacher living in Toronto, Canada.
On March 2016, I started my career as a teacher in Japan. I moved to Toronto, Canada on September 2017 to study for Teaching English as a second Language(TESL) program at Humber College to develop more as a teacher.

I’m so grateful with everything I have learned and had a great experiences that I’d never had in Japan.

However, only three days before the convocation, someone stole my backpack.

It had my passport, my visa, my wallet, my house key, my laptop, iPhone6(my last phone only for Wifi and storage), my voice recorders and other valuables.

I was with my friends at this cafe that was packed. This is a picture of the cafe.

My backpack was on the right side of my chair when I took out my phone from my bag. After a few bites of my sandwich, in seconds, my bag was gone.

None of my friends with me and the people sitting on the right and left sides of the tables saw anything suspicious. The cafe staff didn’t allow me view the two security cameras until their manager comes to work in the next five days.

Thankfully, I had my phone on the table, so I called the police but they told me they can’t come because I’m not a Canadian citizen. So I searched for the nearest police station, and established the report.

Four days later, the manager gave me a call, explaining that he found the suspect in the footage of security camera. He said that a guy wearing hat with his T-shirt sat on the closet chair at the back of my table, looking at his phone, and picked up my backpack and left as if it was his. The security guard told me later that the exact same thing happened to a Canadian guy in the past at the same table of the cafe, telling me there is some professional thief walking in and out through the cafe.

Here’s what was stolen:

- Macbook Air 11inch +
the 45W MagSafe Charger (Value: $1,410)
- iPhone 6  (Value: $510)
- TASCAM Voice Recorder (Value $180)
- Shure MV88 Voice Recorder
(Value $180)
- Audiotechnica Earphones
(Value $200)
- Metro pass (Value $110)
- My backpack (Value $120)
- My wallet (Value $160)
- My passport
(Value $140 to be reissued)

I also lost many invaluable documents such as all my lesson plans, movies and singing recordings for my next ESL YouTube videos, my business plans to open my school on my laptop, and all my videos and photos with my fiancée, my friends and my family on one of my phones.

The Total : $3,000

It is so difficult asking for your help, but I cannot lie, I was devastated, and I still need your help.

Please support me with $2, $3... or any amount. It would be a huge help for me.

I would be very grateful to find the best possible way that I can give back to you.

Thank you so much for your help.
